Hello - this is Nancy at GE Appliances and I am happy to help you. We're sorry to hear that your microwave needs replacing. The replacement for the PEM31SMSS would be the PEM31SFSS. Unfortunately, the built-in trim kits are not interchangeable. The trim kit that is approved with this new model is the JX827SFSS for the 27" trim kit or the JX830SFSS for the 30" trim kit.
