Hello Phil, Thank you so much for reaching out. We're happy to provide a recommendation for a new microwave. Model PEM31SFSS is a fine replacement for PEM31SM3SS. The optional built in kits (JX827SFSS; JX830SFSS) can fit a 27" space or a 30" space. This model will fit the same cutout space as your current model. You will need to use the built in kits for this model since they are made for that model.
