“Why am I getting a green screen when streaming movies online? Hi there, I recently just purchased Chromecast so I can stream movies on my laptop and watch it on my TV. I have a Macbook and a Samsung TV. Whenever I try to use Chromecast to watch a streaming movie or a movie I already have on my laptop, the TV screen is green and fuzzy. Can you please help? I have no problem playing youtube videos or playing anything via my iPhone. Thank you so much!!”

According to google, the Desktop version of Cast for chrome cast is still in beta, that there will be some bugs with it. Watch the update system for Chromecast for when they release that update.

Basically it only plays content that is from Google like youtube etc. But there are some apps out there that supports chromecast so you'll just have to search your app store for apps that are chromecast supported.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Chromecast is not designed to play anything from your laptop. There is a beta Tab Cast add on you can use with chrome on your laptop but you can't play a video saved on your laptop on your screen via chromecast. Not its purpose.
