“can I watch regular digital television channels if i buy chromecast? Time Warner Cable wants me to buy the box to rent so i be able to watch what is like ABC, NBC, FOX, PBS, ETC. Ever since the regular channels became digital, they want people to buy a digital television in order to keep watching, but not too long ago, now no channels will display and I was or am thinking of buying chromecast if it allows me to watch these channels again apart from netflix. If this device don't do what i am asking for, should i just buy the one call rabbit tv usb stick?”

USB input) then you only need to hook up a simple antenna such as rabbit ears to receive the Network Channels you referenced. If you have an analog TV, then you can find converter boxes available online to convert the digital broadcast signals to analog thus enabling you to watch the broadcast networks programs. Chromecast will not bring in those broadcast digital signals. Only those apps that have been set up to work with Chromecast will work on your TV.

If you subscribed to Hulu Plus you would be able to watch on demand from their application via your phone connecting to the chromecast. I've never heard of a rabbit TV usb stick so I can't recommend it.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I think you just need a good antenna for your digital TV. You don't need chromecast. Chromecast does not connect to any tv channels. It only "broadcast" your internet chrome browser to TV! Other things, you can do with chromecast is to allow you to watch Netflix, youtube, HBO, through apps from google playstore. All of these services require an internet connection and subscriber services-- extra fees!.

You can watch CBS from their website (or android app) and Chromecast that to the TV without a provider required. The WatchESPN/DisneyXD/DisneyChannel apps require you to log in with a provider they support. Currently ESPN supports TWC, but Disney does not. I'm not sure about Fox, but I suspect that they will be a similar case. If you don't need the shows same day, you can get most shows through Hulu Plus or Netflix these days. The only ones you're really missing out on is live sports, but ESPN is helping cover that. Naturally there are bootleg options out there, but the stream quality is so bad that it isn't worth it.

Epix also has an application that allows you to stream the movies and TV shows they have On Demand. The other premium channel providers do have apps but I am not sure if they are compatible to stream directly to your CC. I currently have Xfinity that offers free live TV online. I use Google Chrome to stream live TV from my computer. However, when streaming directly from your browser, I noticed that it's a bit slower than the regular streaming that sends the link to your Chromecast.

It was designed to display videos playing by compatible apps running on your mobile devices or computers. For examples, you are able to play video clips of Youtube, you can let it be displayed on your big screen TV.

The chromecast can display content from a large amount of video sources, but I have not yet determined how to get access to LIVE broadcasts other than from ESPN onto the Chromecast.

Unless you have a way to view local channels on your tablet or phone, this will not work for that purpose. You will need to get a converter of some sort or a newer TV that has a digital tuner built in. If you have a TV that will accept the Chromecast, you have a TV with a digital tuner built in.
