No, you have to pay $20 per month, per camera to store anything on their cloud system

No, you must pay $20 per month to record video to their cloud storage. Pretty useless without the $200 per month, per camera.

You cannot directly record to a hard drive but you can select times, create videos (up to an hour) and save those to a hard drive

no, you have to use the nest subscription service to store the information. Monthly cost is reasonable however

No, not as far as I could tell. There are other products that do not offer cloud storage but allow local recording storage.
