The camera itself does not support POE directly. Reading up on the hardware specs on the Nest site, this camera uses a USB-C cable to get power from the wall adapter to the camera. Currently one company I've found is working on a POE to USB-C converter with power on delivery that they claim will work for these cameras (and others devices that require USB-C power). You can find more info on this by checking out the blog for PoE Texas (or google POE-USBC-Kit). These have not been released yet at the time I'm posting this. I have POE lines run to my current cameras, so I will be giving this a try whenever these cameras & POE converters get released.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. No, these use the supplied power cables and adapters.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It would be nice wouldn’t it. Perhaps after this ships, someone will offer a POE converter/adapter that will be able to power this. POE is so handy, but Nest just doesn’t seem to see it in their business model. Most people just want to take something home and plug it into a wall outlet...so that’s the market they are addressing.
