The Nest Doorbell (Wired, 3rd Gen) is a wired device that requires a direct connection to your home’s existing low-voltage doorbell wires (usually 16–24 VAC, 10VA) to provide continuous power. Because it is hardwired, it does not use a rechargeable battery or a standard power cord that plugs into a wall outlet. It does simply attach to a mounting plate, but you will need those doorbell wires connected to the back of the device for it to operate.
