• You only need the Nest Protect, a smartphone, and WiFi. No other Nest product needed. You'll have to install the Nest app on your phone. It's dead simple to set up because it walks you through the process. The hardest part (not that hard) is mounting it on your ceiling.

• No other Nest product required. I have no other Nest products, and the Nest Protect smoke/carbon monoxide detectors work fine using my standard WiFi. You do need iOS or Android device for the Nest App.
