You should be able to check this with the Nest app. It will show battery and connection status. According to Google their supplied back-up batteries last 5 years under normal use. My advice would be to check if it is physically connected to the electrical supply (twist it off and see if there is an actual connection) and that the circuit breaker is not tripped. I would also recommend that you install the app. If not sure what to do check youtube and Google for instructions.

You'll know your wired Nest Protect isn't receiving power when its small green power light is off. Wiring issues usually crop up during or right after installation, but wires can sometimes become disconnected later, especially if the connections weren’t securely terminated with a wire nut. It would be best to contact your installer (or a pro) to diagnose and fix wiring issues, who knows how to safely deal with high-voltage equipment and ensure proper connection for all wires.
