• Yes. They both connect to your wifi and communicate with each other. When one goes off the rest go off to provide full coverage. Throw in the Nest thermostat and they all communicate,

• Yes they do communicate with the wired version. Activating a test from the battery powered unit will cause the hard wired units to self test also.

• Yes, I have 4 Battery operated and 1 Hard wired in my house. All 5 of them go off at the same time we we perform the test on one smoke detector.

• Yes it will. I have it this way in my house. 4 wired and 1 battery. It won't check for code as often and doesn't poll your wifi as often...obviously so it can maintain battery life. But otherwise is great.
