• This is not a gas detector, only smoke and carbon monoxide. I would have to say no it wouldn't detect gas from a stove.

• CO detectors can only sense combustion that produces carbon monoxide. This includes the exhaust from appliances and your furnace or hot water heater. No detector, Nest included, will sense a natural gas or propane leak.
