Unfortunately, there is no volume control for Nest Protect. It runs with an 85dB sound pressure level at 10 ft (3 m). You can silence it by pressing the button or by using the app. You may silence all Heads-Up alerts and some Emergency Alarms, but keep in mind, if smoke levels are too high, then the alarm can’t be silenced. This is an industry requirement for all smoke alarms. Also, Nest Protect can’t be triggered by a blow dryer as it only detects smoke and Carbon Monoxide. Nest Protect can detect if it is from a steam related event or from a fire or a smoke, and it reduces nuisance alarms.
