The Nest Guard which is the main control for the Nest Secure system plugs into a normal outlet to be powered at all times and will need to be placed on a flat surface to get the most out of the motion sensor in the front of the Nest Guard. In case power is lost, it also has a 12 hour battery backup. More details about the Nest Secure can be found here: https://nest.com/support/article/Frequently-asked-questions-about-Nest-Secure
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. There is nothing you have to hardwire. There is a set screw for the base if you want to make it where its difficult for someone to unplug but its not required. And the door/window sensors come with double sided tape so you can tape them instead of screwing them in to make it easier to leave an apartment undamaged. Its a great product in my opinion if you want something you can move later.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The Ness Guard only needs to be plugged into a standard power outlet, no need to hard wire anything. A Built-in rechargeable lithium-ion battery provides a 12-hour battery backup. The upcoming Ring Ring - Protect Security System (Model: 4K11S7-0EN0SKU: 6097400) may Intrigue you as it is only $199 and includes some pretty decent entry level security hardware Release Date is not yet announced but should be soon https://www.bestbuy.com/site/ring-protect-security-system/6097400.p?skuId=6097400 The Nest secure will still be my choice for my upcoming security system build as the Nest ecosystem is more robust but the Ring is an amazing option if you're on a budget or looking for a great gift
