The alarm will arm with or without a window/door open. The message light will be orange indicating a window or door is open and all other sensors will work. There is a setting to change so the system can go off instantly if you want it too. That'as a recent change, though.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. If you have the sensor on the window you can push the button to disable it. You have to open it and leave it open with in ten seconds. That sensor will stay disarmed till it it closed again. Once you close it, it works as normal I use this on the back door on days the weather is nice or to let the dog in and out when the alarm is armed while at home. There is a delay though with it is armed at home and someone opens up something I did see on the nest site that this should be addressed in a future firmware update.

You can set the alarm to go off as close as 30 seconds after a motion or open detection event has happened (it's not instant). There are 3 modes you can set: off, "at home but armed", which turns off motion detection but turns on open detection, and "away and armed" which turns on motion detection and open detection.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, you can bypass by clicking a button on the sensor. It does take a minimum of 30 seconds for the alarm to go off for every sensor. The unit does say which sensor was breached.

When you select the chat bubble on the Nest Guard, it will tell you that a door or window is open and give you the option to continue if you’d still like to arm the system even with an open door or window. This information will also be available on the Nest app when attempting to arm the system. When set to Home and Guarding, you’ll have a customizable window from 30 seconds to 5 minutes that you can set up. When a door or window is opened while Home and Guarding, you’ll receive an audible alert that the door or window was opened and the chosen countdown will begin before the alarm sounds.
