The Pixel 4 has a more powerful processor (SD 855 vs SD730G) but less RAM (4 GB vs 6 GB) so apps will load slightly faster and run more smoothly on the Pixel 4, but may not keep the same number of apps in memory (apps are more likely to reload when multitasking). Pixel 4 has a higher refresh display at up to 90hz vs 60hz on the Pixel 4a (scrolling will appear more fluid on the 4). The 4 also has wireless charging, water and dust resistance, Soli radar tech (helps with face unlock and gestures), and a telephoto lens at the back. On the flip side, the 4a has a more modern design with a punch hole display that is also slightly larger (5.81" vs 5.7"), overall lighter footprint, a larger battery, an audio jack for wired audio, a larger storage when compared to Pixel 4 base model (128 GB vs 64 GB), comparable image quality, a fast and accurate fingerprint sensor at the back, and an extra year of software support, all while being significantly cheaper.
