Hey, TinyVoiceFromSewerDrain. I am YOU, from the future. You can activate the phone easily at home with your Sim Card. DON'T buy this phone, though. It's a fragile piece of junk, and they don't make those custom cases you like for it. A month after buying this, it's going to slide off your dresser, because it's lopsided and won't sit on a flat surface, and shatter the glass back. That's right, they made the BACK of the phone out of glass. You'd be better off sticking with the old iPhone with the busted battery. Save your money.

In this modern age, "activation" basically means putting the SIM card into the phone, turning on the phone, and having the phone joining/running on the carrier network -- the phone should auto configure everything. You absolutely can switch to a different carrier and put in a different SIM card. Activation should not lock any unlocked phone into AT&T, or any carrier.
