• Yes, it is an AC powered charging speaker. The tablet must also be on the speaker to play through it.

• Hi Gigi, thanks for reaching out! In this case, only the Charging Speaker Dock (included) can be used to dock your Pixel Tablet. To charge your tablet when it's away from the dock, you'll need a USB-C cable and power adapter (sold separately) to plug it into a wall socket.
