“I have wireless Internet in my home. When I am in the driveway and garage sometimes I am down to a single bar of Wi-Fi signal. Will adding a Google mesh to my garage enable the current Wi-Fi to a stronger signal out there? Definitely not water resistant?”

I would be very surprised if it didn't. I have one on all three floors of my house and I get a signal in my basement like never before. (cable provider comes in the top floor). You may want to play around with the placement of your two or three google devices to get the best out of your signals because remember they're wireless as well, but my experience has been great.

You'll need to replace your current router with a mesh-capable router, and then set up a second mesh device as a "repeater" to extend the signal. These devices are definitely not water resistant, they are designed for indoor use only.
