Hello Bob - Essentially the difference between the 4Ah and 2Ah is weight and runtime. The higher the ampere-hour (Ah) rating is on the battery, the more run time the battery can offer. 2.0Ah batteries yield a shorter run time of about 10-15 minutes in a mower.

I have multiple Greenworks tools and batteries. The 2 amp hr will work in the lawn mower but wont last as long. I have used 2 and 4 in my leaf blower. The 4 has a little more wind speed and last a bit longer. Both work though.
