Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.The manual says it is a 4 quart bowl. It is fairly tall and narrow, so it works well with smaller quantities also. Yes the bowl turns on the base. This is a very good value for the "occasional baker". If you are cranking out a couple loaves of bread everyday and have counterspace for something permanent, a heavier one might be advisable, but this is perfect for us.
