“When I change my channel to a news program the TV shifts my picture settings to what it believes are the best settings for that type of program. Same thing when I have sports on. How can I override the settings so it stays on the picture settings I want?”

The tv auto detects the video coming from a source and formats how it is being sent. If you have a provider like comcat or directv, you need to change the settings there using box. It's using referred to as VIDEO that provides how the picture is formatted and displayed. That is where you need to make the change. Not knowing where the news source is coming from (provider, app, antenna), I cant provide further details. Hope this helps
