“The TV comes with plastic coating around the frame of the screen, is this supposed to be removed? I can't tell if it is there to give the frame a stand out look or if it's just minor protection.”

I don't understand the response from the "Hisense Support" person, but there is a removable film around the tv bezel that ships this way to protect it from scratching. Of course you can remove this film. It is not meant to stay on permanently. Though some may choose to leave it on. Like many parents who left plastic on their couches in the 70's :)

But after inspecting many times, it is super sticky but does look as if it is intended to come off and is removabke. Thinking it was an extra packaging precaution. Removed it and the tv looked great afterwards.
