No this is a great option for that. There have been many instances where I have lost my phone or something and used my google assistant to call. Works every time.

Since you are both on the same WiFi network, you can “speak” to another speaker by prefacing your message with “Hey, Google: ..Broadcast”. I do this all the time, like an intercom. I’m downstairs in the kitchen, and wondering if my wife wants a cup of tea. So it goes like this: “Hey Google...Broadcast....Peggy, would you like a cup of tea?” The other Google Home, in the bedroom, speaks the message. She usually forgets to preface with “Hey Google....Broadcast...” and only says “Yes, please” which of course I do not hear, since I am in the kitchen and cannot hear what she is saying in the bedroom. So the technology does not solve the problem of having to walk upstairs, and then back down, just to ask the question. But we will get the hang of it.
