i personally recommend the google home the echo is nice but for me networking with my phones like my calendar and maps as well as my smart home is endless

I like that the dot works with my prime music, that I can hook it to an external speaker, and that I can wake to a specific song. The home mini sounds better on its own, works with play music and Spotify free (although in a limited way), and IMHO looks better. So it depends which features are more important to you — what streaming services you want to use and whether you plan to use an external speaker.

I cannot speak to which one is better for a smart home, as I don't have anything smart in my home, but as an assistant I prefer Google's abilities.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.We have both Google home mini and Echo Show. I would recommend Google as it's ability to act on your query is more robust than echo. However, echo has more user friendly apps. We like the show bc it allows us to video conference and drop in on the house and monitor visually, which you would not get using Google. I hope this helps!

If you're just going to use it to search for things online than I'd get the mini since its linked to Google it can search for more things on the web than the dot. But it's also great with plating music from Google music, Pandora, spotify, etc.. you can link the home to your music accounts.
