The original unit and filters are tremendous on smoke. Unfortunately when you replace them (with Honeywell replacement filters) they're paper thin and it no longer does the job.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes - and pay particular attention to the CADR rating of your particular unit. Honeywell tests and rates efficiencies separately for smoke, dust and pollen. Be sure you size your unit for the room size and don't skimp. You can get information to help understand CADR on Wikipedia. Also, if you are considering another brand, don't automatically trust the manufacturer's representation re: the numer of square feet a unit is good for without checking. My experience is that Honeywell is honest about it.

Yes, this does help remove second hand smoke from the air, as the HEPA filter will remove smoke particles, and the pre-filters will help reduce odors and VOCs from the air. Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I saw a reply to this question concerning 2nd hand smoke. “Honeywell works great with the initial filters”. “Replacement filters are too thin and do not work well with 2nd hand smoke.” This was 3 years ago when posted. Was this issue ever addressed and resolved? Patricia so sorry, this is a question, not an answer
