Can you take the wheels off to fit into a space null

if you look carefully, the mounting brackets for the compressor project below what appears to be the bottom of the unit, and they are not centered. if you took the wheels off you would only gain about 1/4 inch and the unit would tip easily. Do not recommend taking the wheels off.
