• The split pad pro is powered by the switch itself, it requires no charge. (so yes, it will drain your switch battery, but not by a lot)

• Yes it drains the battery in handheld mode. You dont have to charge the device because it runs off your switchs power in both handheld mode and the other.

• It doesn't appear to drain it any more than the normal Switch Joy Cons. It is not wireless, so it doesn't have any battery on it's own.

• This controller here does not have a battery, and this version of the split pad pro connects to the wired base when the system is docked and you detach the two controllers to use them in handheld mode. It doesn't drain the battery whatsoever
