Hi Trish, thanks for your question. Microsoft Windows will be the operating system installed. That will be installed and free to use for the life of the laptop. If you are asking about Microsoft Office, the laptop comes with a free trial of Office but will need a subscription to use it after the trial is up.

Addendum: You can also buy a recent version, use one component at a time through the browser (limited function), or get a free suite, like Kingsoft.
