Hi Glenn, thank you for asking. The HP 15-fd0005dx comes with 8GB of DDR4-3200MHz RAM installed and supports up to 32GB. When first turning it on, this memory is sufficient for standard operations, including system setup and backups. For system recovery, HP recommends creating a recovery drive using a USB flash drive with at least 16GB of storage (though 32GB or more is ideal). This ensures you have enough space for a full system backup in case of a failure.

Please try again later.The MEMORY (8 GB) is enough to perform a backup, but the STORAGE (which is what you should be discussing) can be something like OneDrive (5GB provided free by Microsoft, much more at an additional price), or any kind of external device: HDD, SDD, pen drive, or even tape or floppy discs (although these last two are antiquated and have drastically less capacity). I would recommend at least one 64GB pen drive, but if you want to be safer, and have more data or programs that you are concerned about protecting, you can additional drives. Many people with small businesses, for instance, have two drives for external storage, alternating between them, so that you can never lose more than one day's work.
