You should be able to sideload the Amazon App store APK file, but you'll need to enable developer mode on the ChromeOS. You are correct that not all play store apps will work on ChromeOS. There is one specific app that I want to use, but the app creator will not allow me to install it from the Play store , so I would have to download the APK file and sideload it while ChromeOS is in developer mode.
