“The 564 black cartridge for my HP is wider then the colored cartridges. Recently I bought one and it was the thinner black cartridge. What gives?”

• The 564 ink color BLACK is in fact larger than the other wells, simply because of two reasons: 1) That is what the printer cartridge area calls for 2) Black is the most printed color so it may last longer than the other colors Hope this helps!

• It is because there are two sizes the 564 and the 564xl.

• There are two 564 black cartridges - one is for the black print, and one is a black photo cartridge.

• The HP 564 series ink cartridges include the HP 564 Black Ink Cartridge (CB316WN) and the HP 564 Photo Black Ink Cartridge (CB317WN). The photo black ink cartridge is slimmer and is not used by some printer models that use the HP 564 series ink cartridges. I apologize for any confusion.
