• Hi Ken, thank you for reaching out. Yes, you can use HP 64 standard capacity cartridges in the Envy Photo 7858. The difference between 64 and 64XL is that the 64XL has a higher page yield.

• XL is only a larger version of the cartridge. It contains slightly more ink. It will work.

• i have a 7855 printer and i use both the standard and the XL in mine. I also use sometime an XL for one color (tri-color) and standard for the other color (black).
