• Jen, thank you for your question on this HP Envy laptop! When a battery is full, the laptop will stop taking the charge. The best way to calibrate the battery, is to let it deplete close to 0% on the first use, then turn it off and plug it in. You then wait until it charges to 100%. The charging light is orange when it is below 100% and blue when it is fully charged.

• As mentioned elsewhere (search Questions!), it takes about 2 hours to charge from 0 to 100%, and when you first get it, it will probably be partially charged (maybe 10-15%).
