It's compatible. I have 2 monitors like this and I use with my 2018 MacBook Pro 15. Also charges the MacBook perfectly. The only problem for me is lack of USB HUB in the monitor to connect external devices.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It should be compatible. After some mental gymnastics and overcoming the idiotic misinformation from HP's poor excuse for customer service, its working well with my 2016 MacBook Pro. Play around with the monitor settings (buttons on the back of the monitor). I got my TB MBP working by turning off auto detect. I was successful over HDMI and USB-C. I didn't have a display port to test. You may only get 30 Hz worth of sync, though - but that would be an apple issue. I get 60 Hz worth of sync with the newer MBP.
