Yes, you can, but I found it easier to set up via wireless and the app first, then I shut down the wireless and use USB most of the time. The buttons on the front of the printer light up but I didn't want to take the time to figure out how to use them to set the printer up wirelessly. By connecting for a short time to our internet wirelessly, I was able to set up the printer in about 3 minutes. It's just a personal preference as I feel the internet is dragged down by so many items using wireless when this printer sits on my desk and I am the only one who uses it so it makes more sense to just plug it into my laptop at the same time I am plugging in my external large display screen.
