A:Answer Honestly, I bought the ONE TIME purchase Windows Word, Excel etc package. You really have to dig for a bit to find just that one. I bought mine in the beginning of the year when they had it on sale. I spent about $40 but now I don't have to pay a membership fee. My friend looked recently and it was more like $150, but you can shop around for the one time download and find it cheap like I did. I personally don't need the latest model updates for Xcel and Word products, since I just use it for personal purposes. I also don't need it on multiple systems/computers either. If you need to have the most up to date version, multiple devices, etc etc etc, then you can pick one of the memberships. Microsoft has all the info on those on their site. Each one has a monthly amount OR a billed in advanced yearly amount. Paid in advance is obviously the cheaper route but monthly you can choose to cancel at any time.
If you want the one time purchase package for one device but can't find it on sale, you could always subscribe to a monthly for now until you find a good price on the one time purchase.
