- Answer I don't think you need a dedicated landline for the printer, As an additional omment, I think this printer is the cheapest made printer I have ever purchased. If I had time and energy I would bring it back. I guess the old saying is true: you get what you pay for.

- Answer The OfficeJet 3830 uses the HP 63 Black and Tricolor cartridges. Unfortunately HP has discontinued the manufacturing of printers that used the HP 61 ink cartridges.

- Answer Yes, this printer features a function called Single Cartridge Mode that would enable you to print with just a black cartridge. Though for the sake of printer maintenance and ease of use, we might recommend considering a monochrome (Black and white only) laserjet printer instead!
