The Officejet Pro 9015 printer is the newest generation that would be comparable to the 8600 printer.

I also had an 8600 and I shopped carefully - did not want to "over-buy" bu like you wanted something similar to the 8600. This machine did it. The footprint is smaller, the duplexing is more reliable, the Instant Ink feature has turned out to be easy to use and flexible -- and very reasonable. My printer came with 4 months'' free ink and you can increase or decrease your allotment easily. I just had my second shipment arrive seamlessly and there are tools that let you see where you are in terms of usage, very simple. I do like the paper handling much better than 8600 and also the HP Smart App is very helpful. Set up was a breeze. I used my printer with a Mac, an HP All-in-One desktop, two iPhones and an old iPad. An excellent device you will really like.
