We experienced the same problem. It needs to sit on a flat hard surface so the heat can flow under and away from the computer. (The computer has a good fan.) I bought a portable desk (looks like a bed tray, but with legs that can fold flat too). That works well. Just avoid using it on pillows, bedding, or pads made out of fabrics.

Your best option is to contact the HP support team directly so they can troubleshoot it and make sure that everything in the computer is configured correctly.
