yes that is how you turn the mic on and off while still using the headset.

Yes, pivots up to mute. But like other people have said, the mic will quit working with barely any use. I would never recommend these to anyone.

Yes, it is adjustable. up all the way mutes the mic, nice feature, although, my mic plug broke after 5 months of light use, so as far as that goes I cannot recommend them.
