“Is this very loud / noisy during normal use? How about when the compressor kicks on? Does the compressor turn on frequently? I would like to install this in my home office, but I do have web meetings and can't have this be very loud.”

It is silent when the compressor is off and when it runs it sounds like a small refrigerator running; however, it isn't annoying and super loud.
