• I would leave 4 or 5 inches behind and the top and sides. It makes a mild "clicking noise" when the compressor comes on like any refrigerator.

• I would think you need an inch or two behind the unit (so it doesn't overheat) and on the side with the door hinge about 3/4 inch clear space so you can open the door fully. Our unit is very quiet (quieter than we expected).

• You need at least 1.6 inches between the back, top and side of your cooler. And the noise is 42dB.
