It would be good if the shelf is open at the back so that the unit does not overheat. If the shelf isn't open at the back, you should leave about an inch of room at the back, which would make the body of the unit stick out about 1/2 inch over the shelf. This could be OK because the feet on which the unit rests are set back from the edge about an inch. The unit is 19 inches high.
