“I seem to have trouble using the remote to turn on and off the bar. I have to stand directly in front of the bar and point the remote at the red light and press the power button several times. Other buttons work fine once on even from a distance.”

I had an identical problem. After a short time, even the manual on/off switch stopped working. Save the frustration, the speaker system is junk!

It is normal to be a little slow to respond for power on/off.
