When you connect a CD player, one end of the RCA cable would plug Into the Right and Left OUTput jacks of the CD player and the other end of the cable would connect to the Right and Left INput jacks on the receiver marked CD. Make sure you color match your connections on each end of the cable. The AUX IN plugs could be for other sound sources that have RCA OUTput jacks. You would only use the AUX OUTput jacks to pass the sound on to another receiver or device that accepts INput. We used to connect tape recorders to those jacks, but that's unheard of these days.
