No, you do not need an Amazon Prime membership to use this TV.

If you have xfinity, just log into your account on the xfinity app and your kids can stream movies or watch live TV. But to answer your question directly, no… you do not need to have Amazon prime to use the TV. It’s a regular TV that can pick up HD channels with an HD antenna.
