What I did: 1. Turn the remote over 2. The 'double arrows' show the direction of the back cover when it releases its 'deadly grip' (it sits on two tracks, one on each side of the back cover; eventually, it will slide down and come off. (Obviously). 3. The circular indentation on top of back cover, in my humble opinion is way too shallow; it provides hardly any traction in helping to SLIDE the back cover down (to open it) NO matter how hard I squeeze on it with a downward motion. When the back cover begins to move a little, I had to use a butter knife to help to pull the back cover down to open. NOT a great design. 4. Best of luck with this little adventure.

Slide the cover downwards or press the tab to open it. Insert two AAA batteries, ensuring the positive (+) and negative (-) ends match the markings inside. Finally, close the battery compartment by sliding the cover back into place until it clicks securely. Patricia | Insignia Support
