The first refrigerator I purchased was delivered by FedEx with damage, so I decided to return it myself to the local store and exchanged with another one that I would carry myself instead. I inspected the new unit at the store before taking it to the car (not hard to cut the stripes and lift the top part of the box). I understand that there are concerns related to the position in which the fridge should be transported but since this is a small compressor I decided to take the chance and carried it all the way the 6 miles resting the box on the side keeping in mind that won't be resting on the back or front of the unit, it was laying on one side. You must know that there are parts inside (glass shelf, etc.) that are well attached to the unit with styrofoam and tape, so the box needs to be carefully handled when you lift to the back of the car or when is unloaded at the destination. Once at the place where is going to be plugged in I would allow 30 minutes to the unit before plug it in. This will help any liquid in the refrigeration system to rest and in the meantime you will spend probably the same amount of time removing all the internal accessories, clean them and put them back in place. In my case, since I plugged the fridge and the ice cubes started to frost the unit was working for 45 minutes and is working fine since it was installed several weeks ago. Hope I was able to address you concerns.
