Hello Patti, The manufacturer's warranty does not cover Misuse, Abuse, Negligence. You have to maintain the product by cleaning the tank every few weeks to prevent growth of mold, mildew, and bacteria. The air filter should be cleaned after 250 hours of use or 30 days.
