They shouldnt have plugged it in right away, the fridge needs to sit upright for 3 hours before plugging in to allow the coolant to settle in the tank properly. It will be cold enough within 1hour to 1hr 30mins depending how high or low your fridge is set at, it normally comes on setting 4 which is average/normal setting

Should stand up unplug for at least 1 day before you plug it into the outlet. Set thermostate up number 7 wait a few hours to get cold. when it cold then set thermostate where you want it, I have mind set between 5 and 6.
